BUILDING A STRONG FOUNDATION

THE HEALTHY COMMUNITY SUPPORT INITIATIVE

In response to an overwhelming number of requests for help, we established the Skindigneous Healthy Community Support Initiative. Many of the Native Community members who are seeking help and believe in our products, live in poverty stricken areas. With limited resources, many have tried cheap over the counter products and been seen by Indian Health Service to no avail. With limited research available on how to specifically treat Native American skin, Doctors treat their skin conditions like any other ethnic groups. Sometimes it does more damage than good.

Now, you can make a donation to support individuals who have problematic skin conditions.

In addition to severe acne, one of the most predominant and problematic conditions is Rosacea, an inflammation of skin that has plagued Indian country since the inception of reservations. Over the last 100 years our Native American people have been exposed to a diet and hygiene practices that were unheard of. In portraits of yesteryear, you can see the clear skin and healthy appearance of Indigenous people clear into old age. Today, with lifestyles that has been introduced by mainstream America, we see young and old alike affected by overweight, diabetes, cancers, and skin disorders. The adverse psychological and physical effects hinder our confidence, self-image, vitality and growth, growth that we need to survive another 500 years.

Message from the Founder, Lynn Roanhorse

“We have launched a Facebook page, Skindigenous, to provide education for those that want to make changes in their lives.
The passion for my people to be happy starts with a holistic education in the healthy practices of hygiene, diet, fitness and spirituality. I promote healthy practices on my Facebook page because danger is everywhere and without exercising our rights to make healthy, educated choices we are slowly exterminating ourselves. I know its sounds extreme but it is true.
Please join me in this fight to save our people and the need for a change to a healthy lifestyle, starting with a simple remedy that could turn into a routine that can make a difference in someone’s life. The Indigenous community members reaching out to me for help are eager for change and looking for healthy solutions but struggling to make ends meet with extremely limited resources. I am eager to help, yet do not have the means myself to continue donating starter kits and on-going consultations. However, I cannot bear to turn them away.”

Skindigenous is a fledgling, Native-owned micro-enterprise launched with limited resources from a rural community featuring products specifically designed to meet the unique needs of Native skin. Skindigenous uses simple, natural and gentle ingredients based on traditional native wisdom and practices, as well as research.

Your support is critical to providing starter kits and educational support for our community members in need. You can help by becoming a Sponsor of the Skindigenous Healthy Community Support Initiative with any donation amount, or you can help us meet immediate Emergency Needs one-by-one by making a donation of $250 to support an individual in crisis.
